2012 MPASA PICA Awards call for entries

There is just something about the PICA chaos that takes my breath away, cannot wait to ogle over all the breath-taking entries.
Today entries for the 43rd annual PICA Awards, hosted by the Magazine Publishers Association of South Africa (MPASA) open, you’ve got five weeks to debate, the what, the who, and enter, enter, enter. Enthusiastic and efficient entrants can take advantage of an early bird discount. The deadline for early bird entries is 14 August 2012 with a price of R900 per entry Overall Publishing Excellence and R750 per entry for Editorial Excellence.
In keeping with its dynamic approach to publishing development, the 2012 PICA Awards feature a new category titled 360 Degree Innovation. This award is open to magazines that operate in the consumer, customer or business-to-business arenas and their related platforms. The Award recognises the interdependence of the various media channels which magazine publishers use to understand, engage and inspire their audiences.
Early adoption of new platforms and technologies is crucial in publishers’ quests to meet their consumers’ needs. The measure of their success here is determined by innovative application of new concepts and by the degree to which they are able to integrate these new channels into their existing “conversations” – be they print, web, apps, mobile, social media, events, activations, research, retail, shows, events or conferences.
Intro: Today entries open for the 42nd annual PICA Awards and we’re looking forward to admiring the work of well-established names and up-and-coming new talent alike. You’ve got six weeks to fight over and decide on the best work to submit – and to craft and substantiate your entry submissions.

Overall Publishing Excellence and Publishing Excellence Awards (per category entered):
• Delivered by 14 August 2012 – R900 excl VAT
• Delivered within the period of 15 August to 21 August – R1 100 excl VAT
• Delivered within the period of 22 August to 3 September – R1 200 excl VAT
Editorial Excellence Awards (per category entered):
• Delivered by 14 August – R750 excl VAT
• Delivered within the period of 15 August to 21 August – R950 excl VAT
• Delivered within the period of 22 August to 3 September – R 1200 excl VAT
This year's event will take place the Emperors Palace Hotel in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 14 November 2012.
