Grazia to launch in South Africa

20 January 2012
ANNOUNCEMENT: INTERNATIONAL WEEKLY TITLE GRAZIA TO LAUNCH IN SOUTH AFRICA

Media24 will launch the international news and fashion weekly, Grazia, in South Africa later this year. This launch is the result of a licensing agreement between Mondadori and Media24.

John Relihan, CEO of Media24 Magazines said: “With 19 editions worldwide, Grazia is a global brand. We believe the title will do as well in South Africa as elsewhere in the world. We are very excited to embark on this venture with our international partner, Mondadori.”

"Grazia South Africa is going to be our 20th edition - and the first one in the African continent ‘’, commented Zeno Pellizzari, Head of International Activities at Mondadori. ‘’We are truly proud and excited to be working with a world-class media group full of extremely talented people such as Media24. We are sure it will have a profound impact on the South African competitive landscape, similar to what happened in markets such as France, UK, Germany, China, Russia and the Netherlands."

The new weekly glossy will bring to South Africa the ‘easy chic’ formula that is the international characteristic of the Grazia brand: fashion, news and celebrities,  mixing international trends with local styles and preferences.
Media24 Women’s Interest Division General Manager, Liezl de Swardt, said: ‘’The first edition of Grazia was published in Italy during 1938, and it has since become one of the fastest growing fashion brands worldwide, and the leader in the weekly women’s market.  Research based on the Mondadori formula has shown that the time is now right to launch Grazia into the South African market."
