Sanef welcomes decision by NCOP to form ad hoc Committee on Protection of State Information Bill

The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) welcomes the decision of the National Council of Provinces to form an ad hoc committee on the Protection of State Information Bill.

The NCOP now has an opportunity fully to consider the ways in which the Bill fails our democracy, and to remedy them.

In order to do so the Committee must provide an opportunity for consultation  with civil society, community groups, trade unions, religious bodies, and media representatives. Sanef will make submissions to the NCOP on its outstanding areas of concern.

Issued by the SA National Editors' Forum (SANEF)
